A position for a Data Analyst exists in the Quality and Knowledge Management (QKM) area within the Claims team, based at Santam West End Office Park, in Centurion. The position reports to the Head: Quality and Knowledge Management. Contribute towards Santam profitability and growth by influencing the quality and standard of claims handling. WHAT WILL YOU DO

The role of a Data Analyst is critical to driving business insights and supporting decision-makers in their efforts to grow and manage the company effectively. As a Data Analyst, you will work closely with information managers, training managers, claims specialists, and external service providers to continuously develop and analyze business data, with a strong emphasis on delivering value to the organization.

Your primary responsibility will be to provide support for the data requirements of IFRS 17, a new reporting requirement that will fundamentally alter the financial reporting landscape. This will involve leveraging your expertise in financial analysis, data management, and reporting to ensure that the QKM is compliant with the new regulations and can meet its reporting obligations effectively.
WHAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL IN THE ROLE

Data Analysis: Conduct comprehensive data analysis using appropriate tools and techniques to identify trends, patterns, and insights that support informed decision-making.
Reporting: Develop and maintain reports and dashboards that provide timely and accurate information to key stakeholders within the organization.
Data Management: Ensure that data is accurate, complete, and up to date by establishing data quality standards, monitoring data quality, and performing regular data cleaning and maintenance activities.
Process Improvement: Identify areas where data analysis and reporting can be improved and develop and implement process improvements to optimize data analysis and reporting capabilities.
Compliance: Ensure that data analysis and reporting processes comply with relevant legal and regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies and procedures.
Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other departments and stakeholders to understand their data needs and provide timely and accurate data analysis and reporting support.
Professional Development: Continuously improve professional skills and knowledge through ongoing training, education, and participation in professional organizations and networks.
Project Management: Support the planning and implementation of data analysis and reporting projects, including project scoping, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.
Communication: Communicate complex data analysis and reporting concepts to a diverse audience, including executives, managers, and technical staff, in a clear and concise manner.
Innovation: Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in data analysis and reporting and identify opportunities to incorporate new tools and techniques into existing processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Risk Management, or a related discipline.
3 to 5 years of experience in data and/or financial analysis in a complex business environment. Demonstrated experience in understanding of data gathering and analytics to intelligence and knowledge forming. SKILLS

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends, patterns, and insights in big data sets.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data analysis concepts into easily understandable terms for diverse audiences.
Experience developing and maintaining reports and dashboards using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or other data visualization software.
Knowledge of data management and data governance principles, including data quality, data security, and data privacy.
Ability to work collaboratively with other departments and stakeholders to understand their data needs and provide timely and accurate data analysis and reporting support.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
Knowledge of relevant legal and regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies and procedures related to data analysis and reporting.
